Written by Chantal Gapato | January 7, 2026
A unique blend of live music, cinema, and heritage architecture will take place on February 5, 2026, as MiraNila Heritage House hosts an al fresco concert and film screening of the classic Italian film Cinema Paradiso.
Set within the grounds of the historic MiraNila Heritage House, a 1929 ancestral home in Quezon City, the event invites audiences to experience the celebrated film under the stars, accompanied by a live concert featuring music by Ennio and Andrea Morricone.
The evening will open with a guided house tour, allowing guests to explore the heritage interiors of the landmark residence before gathering on the front lawn for the concert and film presentation.
The musical performance will be led by Italian violinist Alessio Benvenuti, recognized internationally and cited as an Artist of High National and International Value, together with pianist Mariel Ilusorio, whose career has brought her to concert stages across four continents. The duo will perform selected themes from Cinema Paradiso, bringing to life the score that has become one of the most recognizable and emotionally resonant in film history.
Released in 1988 and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, Cinema Paradiso won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is widely regarded as a tribute to cinema itself, exploring memory, childhood, and the enduring power of storytelling through film. Its score, composed by Ennio Morricone in collaboration with his son Andrea, has remained a staple in concert halls worldwide.
Following the screening, director Giuseppe Tornatore will appear on screen to deliver a special recorded message addressed exclusively to the MiraNila audience.
Organizers describe the event as an immersive evening that brings together heritage, live performance, and cinema in a single outdoor setting, offering audiences a rare opportunity to experience a film concert within a historical environment.
