Hilary Hahn Cancels December Performances as Recovey Continues

Violinist Hilary Hahn has cancelled her upcoming performances with the Berlin Philharmonic on December 11, 12, and 13 as she continues to recover from a double pinched nerve injury. She was scheduled to perform Dvořák’s Violin Concerto in A minor under the direction of Andris Nelsons at the Philharmonie in Berlin. The decision comes as Hahn continues a gradual recovery following several months away from the stage.

American violinist Benjamin Beilman will replace Hahn for all three concerts, performing the same concerto as originally planned. This marks Beilman’s second collaboration with the Berlin Philharmonic, following his debut with the orchestra on its 2024 US tour. Known for his rich tone and expressive style, Beilman has performed with major ensembles including the Chicago Symphony, London Philharmonic, and Philadelphia Orchestra.

Hahn’s withdrawal follows a series of cancellations earlier this year, including her BBC Proms appearance. She returned to performing in February 2025 after a seven-month hiatus, but doctors have advised continued rest to ensure a full recovery. The Berlin Philharmonic expressed its gratitude to Beilman for stepping in and wished Hahn strength and healing as she continues her recovery.
