Manila Symphony Orchestra to Perform Alongside Renowned Conductor and Pianists in “Legacy” Concert on January 25

On January 25, 2026, 7:30 pm, at Proscenium Theater at Rockwell, Makati City, the MSO Foundation Inc. and The HSTL Foundation will be presenting “LEGACY,” a concert featuring two generational prodigies, pianists Carmen Sipin-Aspiras and Inna Montesclaros, alongside the baton of world-renowned conductor Darrell Ang, who will lead the Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO) that evening. 

The event is a benefit concert for the MSO Foundation’s Basilio Manalo Scholarship Program, which supports the journeys of young Filipino musicians. 

The program that evening will feature works by Brahms, opening with his Academic Festival Overture, Op. 80 before venturing to his piano works; and Chopin, whose piano music evokes a quiet and mysterious allure that quite sharply contrasts Brahms’ grandeur. 

A bit about the artists: 

Carmen Sipin-Aspiras made a national name for herself when she gave her first orchestral debut in Manila at the mere age of 10. She later earned a scholarship grant to study at the Vienna Musik Hochschule in Austria. 

At the age of 8, Inna Montesclaros was already giving her first recital. At 11, she had her orchestral debut, performing Mozart’s D minor Concerto with the very orchestra of the evening. Montesclaros will be partnering once again with the MSO, this time performing Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major!

Darrell Ang, who will conduct alongside Montesclaros, has distinguished himself by becoming the youngest Associate Conductor of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, among other achievements, such as being a regular guest conductor at the prestigious Mariinsky Theatre in Russia. 

The concert is also an exciting prelude to the MSO’s 100th anniversary concert lineup commemorating its founding in 1926 by Alexander Lippay.
