Written by Chantal Gapato | December 14, 2025
Sony Classical has released the official soundtrack for the Amadeus original series, now available for streaming.
The five-part series stars Will Sharpe as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Paul Bettany as Antonio Salieri. The production presents a reimagining of Mozart’s life, exploring themes of artistic genius, rivalry and jealousy, while portraying the composer as a cultural phenomenon of the 18th century whose meteoric rise was followed by a dramatic and mythic downfall.
The project was first reported to be in development in November 2022 by Two Cities Television, with screenwriter Joe Barton attached. In February 2024, the series was officially announced, with Julian Farino and Alice Seabright directing from a script by Barton. Will Sharpe was confirmed in the lead role of Mozart at that time.
Additional casting announcements followed in April 2024, when Paul Bettany joined the production as Salieri and Gabrielle Creevy was cast as Constanze Mozart. In late May, further cast members were revealed, including Rory Kinnear, Lucy Cohu, Jonathan Aris, Enyi Okoronkwo, Jessica Alexander and Hugh Sachs. Other actors cast in undisclosed roles include Paul Bazely, Rupert Vansittart, Anastasia Martin, Nancy Farino, Olivia-Mai Barrett, Viola Prettejohn and Jyuddah James.
Filming for the series took place in Budapest, Hungary, between May and September 2024.
The soundtrack features newly recorded performances of works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri, prepared specifically for the series. The full score is conducted by Benjamin Holder and accompanies the dramatic narrative across all five episodes.
